Final preparations are being made for ‘The Fair Before Christmas’ which takes place at the Park Barn Social Centre on Saturday 9 December. The free to enter family event is being organised by the team behind Guildford Borough Council’s Project Aspire.
The fair will be open between 1-5pm and will feature musical entertainment and family-friendly attractions including an ice rink, pony rides, an animal farm, face-painting, Santa’s grotto and appearances during the afternoon from The Snowman, the character from the ever-popular children’s book of the same name.
Cllr Iseult Roche, Lead Councillor for Project Aspire, Health, Safeguarding and Sport says:
“The Fair Before Christmas is set to be a wonderful afternoon of festive fun. There will be plenty to see and do and it will certainly help to get you in the Christmas spirit. We have all worked hard to make this a wonderful event for the whole community and to help bring everyone together at this time of year!”
Cllr Roche added:
“The intention of Project Aspire is to work with all communities across the borough to strengthen the community fabric that makes Guildford a place where everyone is truly valued.”
As well as the exciting festive line up of activities to entertain you, your family and friends the Fair will host array of stalls selling handmade and local Christmas gifts. Delicious food including mince pies and mulled wine will be on offer, or why not relax with a toasted marshmallow hot chocolate whilst the children have lots of fun making decorations for our twinkling Christmas tree. The Rhythm of Life Community Choir will also be singing traditional Christmas carols throughout the afternoon.
The fair is an opportunity for all of the communities in Guildford to celebrate Christmas and share the importance of community spirit – so please come and join us. Entry to the fair is free and there is a small charge for most of the activities.
