New Councillor
Normandy Parish Council would like to welcome Jane Hill onto the council.
After leaving school in 1978, I started my working life in Retail for a well-known high street brand, staying with them until January 1984 when the Guildford branch sadly closed to make way for the White Lion Walk shopping complex.
I then took time out to bring up my son, heading back into employment in 1990, this time my role was office based for Merrychef; a manufacturer of commercial microwave ovens, and it was during the next few years with them that I was given the opportunity to first explore the world of Project Management, working in tandem with the Sales & Marketing Director from who I learnt so much.
My career has had many turns including that of Project Manager for a local telecoms and internet provider, Sales & Marketing Manager for a national educational charity (Senior/3rd Age), Legal Secretary for a firm of commodity brokers, PA to three Directors at a local video game company and then, finally as PA to the Chief Executive Officer at one of the Top 5 UK insurance companies where my key skills of communication, budgeting, P&L, and project management stood me in good stead.
I was made redundant in June 2019 and now retired, feel I have the time to begin to give something of myself back to this beautiful area in which lie the villages of Normandy and Pirbright, having lived in the area nearly all my life.
I have no doubt that the next few months will be full of challenges as I get to grips with the intricacies of local government, but I’m looking forward to it, as well as working with my fellow Councillors.
