Workshop on Social Prescribing in Waverley

Invitation from Surrey County Council – 9 July, 1.30pm at Godalming Baptist Church

Surrey County Council is working with partners to develop social prescribing pathways across Surrey and as part of this piece of work it is holding a series of workshops in each of the boroughs and districts to engage with citizens.

What is social prescribing?

Social prescribing is a way of helping people with social, emotional and everyday needs with sources of relevant support in their local community.  Sometimes referred to as a community referral, social prescribing is a means of enabling GPs, nurses and other primary care professions to refer people to local, non-clinical services which are typically provided by voluntary organisations and local Councils, such as volunteering at a community centre, attending a class at a leisure centre or joining a singing group. Surrey have made a short video about social prescribing, click here; https://vimeo.com/275803319/cec70fcdd1
