Upcoming Conservation working parties
12th October 2024 - 9.30-12pm - Pond Management
Meet at Scout Hut Car Park
a) Reed removal from water-side in the pond (waders required, we have some for people to borrow if they want). Potentially replanting reeds in barer areas along banks.
b) Cutting back vegetation from paths around and near the pond to open them up.
c) Cutting back bamboo near Quinta Cottage
d) Ditch clearance
Please bring gloves, digging tools, rakes, loppers, hand saws, and similar. We have some reed-removal tools and a reed-rake.
20th October - Litter Pick.
Meet at Manor Fruit Farm car park at 2.00pm. Litter pickers and bags will be provided but please do bring gloves and dress for the weather and ground conditions.
9th November: 09:30am - Rhododendron Removal.
Meet at the football pavilion car park. Please bring gloves, loppers and handsaws. Please dress for the weather and note it is likely to be wet underfoot.
7th December: 09:30am - Tree Care at Manor Fruit Farm.
Meet at the car park. We will be removing brambles and other weeds from around the tree planting areas and if appropriate adding more mulch. Please bring loppers, gloves, digging tools, rakes and wheel barrows.
18th January: 09:30 am - Holly Management at Normandy Common.
Meet at Hunts Hill Car Park (next to Guildford Road). We will be cutting back holly from around the footpaths on Normandy Common, using the cuttings to make dead hedges and potentially doing some holly coppicing as well. Please bring loppers, secateurs, hand-saws and gloves.
15th February: 09:30am - Horse Ride Management at Normandy Common.
Meet at the football pavilion car park. Please bring gloves, rakes, loppers and hand-saws.
