Annual Canvass – still time to return your forms

Don’t lose your vote in next year’s local elections – that’s the reminder to the small number of local residents who have yet to respond to this year’s annual canvass. This year 94.89% of borough residents returned the annual canvass of electors form (a legal obligation), an increase from last year of 2.87%. But there is still time to return your form by post if you act now.

Cllr Matt Furniss, Deputy Leader and Lead Cllr for Infrastructure and Governance says: “Your ability to vote is one of the most important things you can do and I encourage everyone to register. It’s easy and quick to do- if you haven’t returned your annual canvass form, please post it back to us by Monday 7 January to make sure you can vote in the borough and parish elections taking place in May 2019.”

We complete an annual canvass of approximately 59,000 households in the borough every year by sending out a Household Enquiry Form. It’s quick and easy to respond by post, phone or online. Following our initial canvass in July 70% of households returned their forms. We followed this up with canvasser visits to properties who had not responded. This increased the return rate to 94.89%.
