Changes to stray dog service from 1 March

Lost or found a dog in our borough? From Friday 1 March the way we deal with stray dogs is changing. A new service operated by Dogbusters will collect stray dogs from finders, take calls about lost and found dogs, take payments of fees and deliver dogs back to their owners. This service will be provided 24/7 including weekends and bank holidays.

Cllr Graham Ellwood, Lead Councillor for Licensing, Environmental Health and Community Safety says: “If you have lost or found a dog in the Guildford area, please call Dogbusters on 07769 972813. This service, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, will be able to help reunite you with your pet.”

If you have issues with nuisance dogs (dogs that are regularly allowed to roam, noisy dogs, dog fouling, dogs being out of control) you should still report this to Guildford Borough Council on 01483 505050.

If you have issues with a dog acting aggressively towards you (and dogs that attack wildlife and livestock), you should contact Surrey Police on 101 if the dog is no longer a threat or 999 in an emergency.

After many years, Treetops Kennels, who we thank for their partnership work, will no longer be involved with the stray dog process and should not be contacted.
